POLICY ON SMOKING

RATIONALE

The Board requests a smoke-free environment in accordance with the Smokefree Environments Act 1990 (and its amendment in 2003). It also wishes to support rules regarding smoking made by pupils in 1986.

This policy applies to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.

AIM

To provide guidelines in order to comply with these two regulatory actions.

GUIDELINES

1.  The children have completely banned smoking on the school site at any time, and in the children’s vicinity on school trips.

2.  Signs are displayed to remind everyone about the smokefree status of the school.

3.  Non-compliance with the smokefree policy will be resolved using the concerns/complaints procedures available to the Board.
